How Vukassa protects your data

Vukassa is a budgeting companion, not a service plugged into your bank. Here is what the app collects, where that data lives, how it is protected — and how to delete it.

What Vukassa never does

  • Connect to your bank

No account aggregation, no banking credentials asked for, ever. Everything Vukassa knows about your money is what you typed in — and it stops there.

  • See your card details

The Premium subscription is purchased in the app, through in-app purchases: payment is processed by Apple or Google, never by Vukassa. No card number ever passes through our servers.

  • Sell your data

No ad network in the app, no selling or commercial sharing of your data. Vukassa's only business model is the Premium subscription.

Where your data lives

To work, Vukassa processes your account (email, display name) and what you enter in it: budgets, envelopes, transactions, goals, net worth. The full detail — data, retention periods, processors — lives in the privacy policy.

On your phone, first

Vukassa works on your phone first: your budgets are stored there, in a space reserved for the app, that no other app can open. That is what lets you look at everything with no network. The day you sign out, that copy is wiped from the phone. And when you import a statement or photograph a receipt, the reading happens there too: neither the file nor the photo is ever sent to us.

On our servers, for sync

So that your budgets follow you from one device to another — and so that nothing disappears if you lose your phone — a copy is kept on our servers, in Europe. It is protected on the way there and once it has arrived, and it serves one purpose only: giving your data back to you on your devices. What identifies you when you sign in stays in the secure vault built into your phone.

And if you share a budget

A shared space is read by two people: whoever you accept — or whoever accepts you — sees the envelopes, the transactions, the goals, the net worth and the subscriptions of that space, plus each person's name and profile picture. Never your email address, never another of your budgets. The sharing ends the moment one of you leaves, and each of you gets their own budget back — but what you entered in someone else's space stays there: it is their budget, not yours, and the app tells you so before you leave.

And if you hand your phone to someone: the app can lock itself behind Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint. It is an optional setting, offered at first launch and changeable at any time from the Profile.

Deleting your account

Deletion happens from the app: Profile, then "Delete account". It is immediate and final — your account is closed, your budgets, goals and net worth stop being accessible, and the local database on your phone is erased. Remaining data is then purged from our systems.

For any request about your data — a question, a copy, a deletion — write to privacy@vukassa.com.

If an incident happens

If a security incident ever affected your data, the commitment is simple: understand, fix, and tell you. As the GDPR requires, the supervisory authority (the CNIL) and the people affected are notified within the legal deadlines, with the nature of the incident and the measures taken.

Think you have found a vulnerability? Write to privacy@vukassa.com: every report is read and answered.

Two documents complete this page: the privacy policy — the exact list of processed data, their retention periods, the processors — and the data usage page, which explains your rights and how to exercise them.
