The rules of the service: what Vukassa does, what it does not do, and what each side commits to.

Purpose

These terms govern the use of Vukassa: the iOS and Android apps, the vukassa.com website and the services that go with them. They form a contract between you and the publisher of the service, identified in the legal notice.

Creating an account means accepting them. If any part of them is unacceptable to you, the only consistent course of action is not to use the service — we would rather write that than imply it.

Who publishes the service

Vukassa is published by Rivel BABINDAMANA KOUKEBA, a sole trader (French entrepreneur individuel, EI), trading as Vukassa. Its full identification, address and publication director appear in the legal notice.

For any question about these terms, write to support@vukassa.com.

Your account

Using Vukassa requires an account. You create one with an email address, a Google account or an Apple account. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service: we never store a password.

  • An account is personal. You are responsible for what happens on it, including from a device left signed in.
  • The information you provide must be accurate, starting with your email address: that is where messages about your account and your subscription go.
  • The service is not intended for children under 15. Between 15 and 18, a legal guardian's consent is required.
  • You can close your account at any time from the app, without writing to us. The steps are described in how your data is used.

What the service does

Vukassa is a personal budgeting app. You split your income into envelopes, record your spending to see where your money goes, track savings goals, keep an inventory of your net worth and — on a freelance profile — your tax provision.

  • Entry is manual. Vukassa connects to no bank account and aggregates no statement: there is no technical way to do so in the product.
  • The app works offline. Your data is written to your phone first, then synchronised when the network comes back.
  • Amounts, categories and due dates are the ones you enter. Vukassa adds them up, splits them and lays them out; it does not verify them.

What the service does with your data is detailed on the security page and in the privacy policy.

Vukassa is not financial advice

Vukassa provides no investment advice, no tax advice and no legal advice. It is not a credit institution, a payment service provider, a banking intermediary or a financial investment adviser.

The figures shown — envelope balance, goal progress, net worth, projection, tax provision, budget weather — are calculations made from what you entered yourself. They are neither a recommendation, nor a guarantee, nor an assessment of your situation. A tax provision calculated by Vukassa does not replace the advice of your accountant or of the tax authority.

The decisions you make from this information are yours.

Premium subscription

Vukassa is free to use. A Premium subscription unlocks additional features, at 5,99 € per month or 47,99 € per year, taxes included.

  • The subscription is purchased from within the app, through the App Store or Google Play. The store collects payment, invoices and handles renewal; its own terms apply to the transaction.
  • The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • The price shown at the time of purchase is the one that applies. A price change never applies to a period already paid for, and you are told about it before the renewal concerned.
  • The features covered by each plan are detailed on the Premium page. They may change; a feature is never removed from a paid plan mid-period.

Cancellation and refunds

You cancel your subscription where you bought it: in the subscription settings of the App Store or Google Play. Cancelling stops the renewal; Premium access stays open until the end of the current period.

Refund requests are handled by the store that collected the payment, under its own rules. We have access neither to your payment method nor to any way of refunding on its behalf.

Because the service is delivered immediately after purchase, the fourteen-day right of withdrawal ends as soon as performance begins, which you accept when subscribing. Write to contact@vukassa.com if your situation seems to fall outside that.

Your data stays yours

What you enter in Vukassa — budgets, transactions, goals, net worth — belongs to you. We claim no rights over it, we do not sell it, we do not pass it to anyone for commercial purposes and we do not use it to show you advertising.

We access it to provide the service, to answer a support request you send us, or to meet a legal obligation. The privacy policy sets out the detail.

Acceptable use

By using Vukassa, you agree not to:

  • attempt to access an account, a space or data that is not yours;
  • disrupt the service — abnormal automated load, circumventing the limits of the free plan, exploiting a vulnerability;
  • decompile or disassemble the apps, beyond what the law allows;
  • use the service for unlawful activity, or to host unlawful content in free-text fields.

If you find a vulnerability, do not exploit it: write to privacy@vukassa.com. Every report is read, and a good-faith disclosure is never pursued.

Availability and changes

The service is provided as it works. We aim for continuous availability without contractually committing to it: maintenance, an incident at a hosting provider or a network outage can interrupt it.

Because the app works offline, an interruption of our servers does not cut you off from your data: it stays readable and editable on your phone, and syncs when the service returns.

Vukassa changes over time. Features may be added, altered or removed. A change affecting a feature covered by an active subscription is announced before it is applied.

Liability

Vukassa is a tracking tool: it plays back and lays out what you enter. We guarantee neither the accuracy of what you enter, nor the decisions taken from what the app displays.

We cannot be held liable for indirect damages — loss of opportunity, loss of profit, commercial harm — nor for the unavailability of a third-party service the product depends on, such as authentication, notifications or the stores. For other damages, and as far as the law allows, our liability is capped at the amounts you have paid us over the last twelve months.

None of these limits applies in case of gross negligence or wilful misconduct, nor to the rights the law guarantees you as a consumer.

Intellectual property

The apps, the website, the Vukassa name and logo and their graphic elements are protected. Your account grants you a personal, non-exclusive right to use the service; it transfers none of those rights to you.

Vukassa is built on open-source components, listed with their licences on the open-source licences page.

Suspension and closure

You can delete your account at any time from the app. The steps and their consequences are described in how your data is used.

We may suspend or close an account in case of a serious breach of these terms, fraudulent use, or a legal obligation. Except in an emergency or where the law forbids it, we tell you and leave you the opportunity to retrieve your data. A closure on our initiative does not forfeit amounts already paid for a period not yet started.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change, in particular to follow a change in the service or in regulation. The date at the top of the page indicates the latest version.

A substantial change is announced in the app or by email before it takes effect. If it does not suit you, you remain free to cancel your subscription and close your account.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to the protective rules applicable to consumers in their country of residence.

In case of a dispute, the route depends on what it is about:

  • Payment, invoice, refund — the complaint goes to the store where the subscription was taken out: “Report a Problem” for the App Store, the Google Play help centre for Google Play. The store collected the payment, and only the store can refund it.
  • The service itself — how the app works, your account, your data: write to us first at support@vukassa.com. Most disputes are settled there.
  • Failing an agreement, the competent courts are those designated by the ordinary rules of jurisdiction.
